Oliver James is the founder of Vapekage, a Texas-based online vape retailer specializing in high-puff disposable devices. He launched Vapekage with a focus on compliance-first operations in a category where most online sellers cut corners.

Why I Started Vapekage

I started Vapekage in late 2025 because I was tired of buying disposables online and getting devices that did not match what was advertised. Wrong puff count. Counterfeit packaging. Stale flavor. Missing batch codes. The category had a credibility problem, and the bigger online sellers were not solving it — they were contributing to it by stocking gray-market inventory.

I built Vapekage on three rules:

• Direct from the brand or established distributor channels — no exceptions. Every device on this site has a documented sourcing chain. We do not buy off Alibaba, we do not bulk-buy from auction sites, we do not stock private-label gray-market knockoffs. The trade-off is we carry fewer SKUs than competitors. The benefit is everything we ship is real.
• Full PACT Act compliance, even when it costs us sales. We block shipments to states that prohibit flavored disposables (currently California, Massachusetts, Utah, and 12 others). We charge the federal $6.99 adult signature fee transparently rather than hiding it. We do not ship to PO boxes or addresses that fail age verification. About 8% of attempted orders never complete because of these checks. That is the cost of doing this legally.
• If I cannot test it, I will not write about it. Every product review and pillar guide on this site is based on hands-on testing in my own workspace.

How I Personally Test Devices

Every disposable we stock goes through the same protocol before any review goes live:

1. Weight at start. Each device is weighed on a 0.01g jewelry scale and recorded.
2. Daily use cycle. I run the device through a normal usage day — typically 200 to 600 puffs depending on the rated capacity — until depletion. I log when flavor starts to fade (usually 70-85% of rated puffs), when the LED turns red, and when the device officially dies.
3. Weight at depletion. Re-weighed on the same scale. The delta gives us actual juice consumption vs. the advertised mL capacity.
4. Charging behavior. Devices with rechargeable batteries get charged from dead and timed. We log how many charge cycles before the device gives out.
5. Build quality notes. Air leaks, button responsiveness, screen accuracy on devices with displays, mouthpiece comfort.

This is why our reviews say things like “rated for 35,000 puffs but in real-world testing the flavor faded around 28,000” rather than just regurgitating the brand’s marketing copy.

What I Won’t Do

I will not:

• Pretend a product is good when my testing says otherwise.
• Accept paid placement, sponsored “best of” inclusions, or undisclosed manufacturer payments to influence rankings.
• Hide negative customer reviews on product pages.
• Sell to anyone under 21, no matter how aggressive their attempt to bypass age verification.
